My Yacht Concours Returns to Monterey Peninsula; 3 days of Luxury Hospitality Aboard M/Y ACANIA, Al Capone's 1929 Original Super Yacht

Los Angeles, CA July 3rd, 2014 – My Yacht Concours returns to the Monterey Peninsula during the annual motoring weekend, 14-17 August, 2014 with a series of exclusive cocktail receptions aboard the 136-foot superyacht, Acania. For the second year, the crème de la crème of the motoring world, discerning HNW guests, and distinguished brand partners will enjoy the unique ambience of this historic 1930 yacht, originally commissioned by Al Capone, and fresh from a $10m, 5-year, archival-level restoration by its owners David and Lynn Olson of Belvedere, CA. Nicholas Frankl, CEO of Entertainment Marketplace LLC, brokered the deal.

The steel-hulled yacht includes a hideaway bar, a necessity for the prohibition era in which it was built, plus other secret tanks, stores and records. It has belonged to the Walgreen family and was commandeered for WWII duty by the US Navy. Designed by John H. Wells and built in 1930 at the New York ship builders, Consolidated Shipbuilding Corporation, she was fitted out as a high-end luxury motor yacht representative of the golden age of the "Roaring Twenties". Her accommodations include four staterooms, a sitting room, sun decks, a formal dining room with supporting galleys, and quarters for a full crew.

M/Y Acania will be moored in Breakwater Cove, embarking on a sunset cruise around Monterey Bay, and mooring in Stillwater Cove®, near The Beach and Tennis Club®, for Sunday's Concours activities, where guests will be able to admire her from the 18th green.

As Sir Jackie Stewart remarked to Frankl in 2013, "I've been coming to Pebble Beach® for 40 years and this is the first time I've seen it from the water!" He added, "You've brought the glamour of Monte-Carlo to Pebble Beach®."
