New to BritWeek are the BritWeek UKTI Business Innovation Awards, exhibitions featuring British interior design, and the extension of BritWeek to San Francisco

Los Angeles, California. (November 20, 2009). Once again, spring in the Southland will mean BritWeek (www.britweek.org). Now in its fourth year, BritWeek will again offer a wide range of events, highlighting British connections with California. The 2010 program will run from Tuesday, April 20th to Sunday May 9th. This year's events will feature British excellence in music, film, food, fashion, fine arts, drink, design, cars, comedy, sports and business. For the first time, BritWeek will also have a program in San Francisco.

BritWeek has adopted Malaria No More as its gala dinner beneficiary for the second year running. With the help of special guest Sir Richard Branson, the benefit will aim to repeat the extraordinary success of last year's dinner, which raised over $1 million to purchase bed nets for thousands of African children at risk from this fatal but preventable disease.

New additions to the BritWeek program include the Business Innovation Awards, a joint venture between BritWeek and the UK Trade and Investment Agency, recognizing innovative technology, design and business practices. The competition will be open to companies based in California or the UK. Additionally the Pacific Design Center and Luxe Magazine will host an event featuring British Interior Designers, and products. Additional information about both events will be announced shortly.

"We are delighted to be adding San Francisco to the BritWeek program," says BritWeek Chairman Bob Peirce. "The British links there are so strong, just as they are in Los Angeles. British companies are the biggest foreign investors and Brits are prominent in the cultural life of the city. We have some wonderful events being planned there, as we have had in Los Angeles for the past three years."

"People ask me why BritWeek is actually three weeks," says BritWeek President Nigel Lythgoe. "I say why not. There is so much to do and say, we could go on for three months if we had the energy."
